    Starting with registration for the 2027 Boston Marathon, at least five minutes will be added to qualifying times from courses with a net-downhill of 1,500 feet or more. Courses with a net-downhill of over 6,000 feet will not be allowed for qualifying. The BAA said that they annually review Boston Marathon qualifying rules and worked with data scientists to make this change. The Boston Athletic Association announced a major change to the Boston Marathonqualifying standards on June 16.

    MassDOT is set to begin a $400M project to rebuild the I-195/Route 18 interchange. The five-phase project starts this summer. It should be completed by spring 2030. NEW BEDFORD — The five-year, $400 million New Bedford Interstate 195/Route 18 rehabilitation project is about to get underway, rebuilding several bridges and transforming the area. City councilors invited MassDOT officials in for a project update on June 17.
