Michail Antonio hopes to return to action in the next few weeks, six months after the West Ham United forward broke his leg in a car crash. The 35-year-old has earmarked playing for Jamaica in the Concacaf Gold Cup, which takes place from June 14 to July 6 in Canada and the United States. Jamaica will play Guatemala a week on Tuesday followed by Guadeloupe and Panama in Group C. Antonio is keen to play in the tournament to prove that he has returned to fitness and earn a new contract at West Ham.

Jobe Bellingham has completed his transfer from Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of about £27.5million to follow in the career path of his big brother Jude. The 19-year-old has become the second most expensive player in Dortmund’s history, second only to the £30million they paid for Ousmane Dembélé in 2016. It is also more than the £25million they paid Birmingham City for a 17-year-old in 2020.

What was your first memorable purchase? When I was about 12 or 13 my godfather took me shopping in Jenners, Edinburgh, where he bought me a pair of grey herringbone trousers. They were rough tweed, possibly Harris, with a little mitred coin pocket with a flap. I adored them and was still wearing them a few years later on the night I lost my virginity. I’d wear them with an oversized jacket, as was the style at the time. I wore those trousers all over. I definitely wore them at Coasters Roller Disco.

Nothing screams summer like a fruit jewel — and Jessica McCormack is fully onboard with her brand-new Fruit Salad collection, an offering inspired by her orchard favourites (hello peach) and rendered in bright, saturated, pavé-set jewels in deliciously 3D shapes. Its timing also couldn’t be more perfect — just as McCormack opens her first American bricks-and-mortar store on Madison Avenue, New York. One can imagine the stylish Upper East-siders queuing up for a ruby-red apple pendant.

It’s quite the moment when Rolex launches a new colour on its watch dials — it tends to stick to classic hues like white or dark green — but this spring it has spoilt us with three unusual shades: beige, lavender and pistachio. It’s a sign, then, that pale and interesting is definitely back. And it’s a trend that even the most traditionally male-focused brands have got behind (thank goodness) from Panerai to Bremont, Tag Heuer to Breitling, plus a few niche ones too.
