Increasing late-week rain chances

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR)-While a few showers are possible on Thursday, Southwest and Central Virginia can expect greater rain chances on Friday and Saturday. For Thursday, partly to mostly cloudy skies will be overhead. Temperatures will rise into the upper 60s and 70s by the afternoon. Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially along and west of Interstate 77. Rain chances will increase Friday as a storm system approaches from the west.

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR)-A few midweek rain showers may develop in Southwest Virginia, but much of the region will be mostly dry and seasonably warm. Increasing rain chances are slated for the end of the week. A stationary boundary will be near the North Carolina-Virginia line on Wednesday. Spotty showers may develop along the boundary, but most of the rain activity will occur over northwestern North Carolina. A few spotty showers are possible along and west of Interstate 77.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - Most of the region will dry out on Wednesday as partly cloudy conditions return. The one exception will be the Mountain Empire, where a few afternoon showers are possible. Temperatures will return to near-average levels on Wednesday with many areas starting in the 50s before rising into the 70s during the afternoon. Rain chances begin to increase again on Thursday, with the best rain potential coming in on Friday.

A cold front will pass through the Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday morning before stalling over North Carolina. Mostly cloudy skies will be overhead for the day with afternoon temperatures reaching the seasonably warm 70s. Rain showers are possible, but there is a greater chance of rain south of US 460. A few rumbles of thunder may occur.

For the next seven days, up to a half-inch of rain is expected with higher amounts in the west and for the Mountain Empire. Showers are possible overnight into Tuesday morning as a cold front moves through. A couple of rumbles of thunder are also possible. Rain chances are highest in Southside on Tuesday. Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop slightly on Tuesday.

Breezy south winds will keep the area warmer than average. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Fairfax County police posted those four words on the X platform Friday, along with a video that shows officers arresting a man accused of peeping into someone's window. The video includes footage from body-worn cameras as well as aerial night vision footage. As it plays, you can hear an officer telling the person operating the camera from above to zoom in. "Yeah, just to confirm, he is standing on top of an HVAC," the officer states.
