(WWLP) – The Springfield Veterans Activity Committee hosted a golf tournament fundraiser at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course to raise money for a new monument. “We have several monuments out there, but we don’t have one in regards to the veterans who served in the Middle East,” said Springfield Veterans Activity Committee Treasurer Joseph Hendrix.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – In Springfield, a free mental health and wellness fair is supporting local youth. Wayfinders hosted the event, ‘Springfield Rise and Thrive’ for the first time. It’s a resident and youth-led effort to raise mental health awareness and break the stigma in asking for help. Springfield middle and high school students got to immerse themeselves in a supportive peer community at Samuel Bolden Park.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – As part of the 4th annual Springfield Pride Parade weekend a fundrasing gala is supporting and celebrating LGBTQ+ youth. The Pride Parade Committee’s annual ”You Ball Fundraising Gala’ took place at MGM Springfield. It gave people a chance to dress up in their best attire, enjoy live performances and auctions. All proceeds go towards the committee’s ‘Safe Space Program’ which provides inclusive and welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ youth across Springfield Public Schools.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Spirit of Springfield Golf Classic teed off Friday morning from Franconia Golf Course in Springfield. The day kicked off with the mayors of Springfield, West Springfield, Agawam, Westfield and Chicopee all taking part in the coveted Mayor’s Cup. Each mayor had three short putts to make. For each one they made, they got to take a second shot at a long putt. Closest ball wins. In the end, Chicopee Mayor John Vieau came out victorious, recapturing the title from 2023.
