ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Zumbro River Fiber Arts Guild is being honored by the History Center of Olmsted County with a new exhibit showcasing several art pieces that a group of women have created over 50 years. The art collective was formed at the History Center of Olmsted County in 1976 by a few women interested in textiles. The center will host a sneak peek of the exhibit at 6:15 p.m. Thursday. Attendees will hear from Guild members and learn about some of the artwork in the room.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Dozens of protesters are making their voices heard Monday following the circulation of a viral video, showing a woman reportedly making racist slurs to a child with autism at Soldiers Field Park. Protesters gathered outside Rochester’s city hall to march and urge authorities to press charges against the woman seen in the video. “We are looking for the woman in question to be charged,” said NAACP President Walé Elegbede.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A person living with autism may have their own unique ways of how they tackle life, which can look different from others. Josie Hargarten of Rochester is overcoming the stigmas of autism and achieving personal goals she never imagined after attending the Minnesota Independence College and Community (MICC). MICC was founded in Richfield in 1996 to provide a safe space for autistic adults to live independently.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – More than 400 high school students across Minnesota were in Rochester Wednesday to compete in the third annual welding competition. The local 6 Plumbers and Pipefitters Training Center of Rochester hosted the event. Groups of competitors had 24 minutes to showcase their welding skills. Having been judged and scored by industry professionals, Byron High School took home first-place honors.

STEWARTVILLE, Minn. (KTTC) – The Stewartville Public School Board voted to cut the district’s gymnastics program for budgetary reasons, leaving many families feeling shocked and frustrated. “Its’s going to affect a lot of people from grandparents including little kids,” said Yolanda Carmen, head coach of the gymnastics team.
