SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – After helping lead his team to the IHSAA State Quarterfinals for the first time in two seasons, Boyden-Hull’s Carter Kleinwolterink is our next SportsZone Boys Basketball Player of the Year nominee. Kleinwolterink led the Comets with 17.3 points per game, the second best average in the Siouxland conference. The junior also led the team with 3.1 assists per game, marking 83 total on the season.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – After helping lead her team to the State Tournament for the first time in a decade, Spirit Lake’s Claire Turner is our next SportsZone Girls Basketball Player of the Year nominee. Turner led the Indians in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per game, the third best average in the state for class 3A. The junior guard sunk her 1,000th career point back in February and finished second in the Lakes conference with 510 points on the season.
