(WMBD) — Firefighters have responded to a structure fire in Deer Creek that has sent plumes of smoke which are visible for miles. The fire was reported at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the 29000 block of Lakeland Road.

EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The City of East Peoria could soon see a new hotel in the area. The council unanimously approved a development agreement with Frontier Hospitality Group for a new hotel on a lot owned by the city, located west of the Bob Michel Bridge. The new 90 to 110-room Hilton/Hampton hotel will be located in the city’s Camp Street TIF District and is expected to enhance other developments in other areas in the city, including the Levee district.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Preparations are underway on Wednesday for the 36th Annual Duck Race. Volunteers were tagging 35,000 ducks at the Eastside Center in preparation for the race that will be held at 1 p.m. this Saturday. The Duck Race is one of the longest-running fundraisers for the Center for Prevention of Abuse. Funds raised by the race will help the center help those who have experienced domestic abuse and human trafficking.
