    GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown police officer facing charges of speeding, driving while intoxicated and improperly handling a firearm appeared in Girard Municipal Court on Tuesday. Joshua Rivers, 34, was pulled over on state Route 11 in Liberty Township just before midnight on Saturday after an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper said he was speeding and driving erratically. In court Tuesday, Judge Jeffrey Adler set bond at $5,000.

In the United States, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds. WKBN talked with cardiologist Dr. Shyam Bhakta with Insight Hospital & Medical Center Trumbull who said they’re seeing an increase in heart disease among young people due to high blood pressure, obesity, and smoking, including using vaping products.

    FARRELL, Pa. (WKBN)- Police are investigating a shooting early Tuesday morning in Farrell that sent one man to the hospital. It happened just before 3 a.m. near Market Avenue. Police had the scene taped off and were collecting evidence. There is no word yet on the man’s condition or if any arrests were made. Andrew Peterson contributed to this report.
