CHARLOTTE, NC (CBS19 SPORTS)-- For the third year in a row the Cavaliers were knocked out of the ACC Championship just one game short of the semifinals. The Cavaliers jumped out first thanks to a RBI double up the right field line from Bobby Whalen. The lead was short lived though as FSU plated two runs in the next frame. FSU then added more insurance to take a 4-1 lead. Momentum once again swayed in Virginia's favor as Griff O'Ferrall belted a lead off homerun to make it a 4-2 ball game.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- Virginia took game one of the Commonwealth Clash from the Hokies 7-3 thanks to a career day from Evan Blanco. The sophomore lefty pitcher threw a career high 7.1 innings, striking out two and allowing just two runs. The outing was the longest by a Cavalier this season. Eric Becker knocked his seventh home run of the season in bottom of the second to make it a 2-0 ball game.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- The Cavaliers fell just short of another ACC series victory against NC State 13-5. The Wolfpack went yard three separate times and scored nine of the final 10 runs of the series. Virginia fell behind early as Owen Coady gave up a three run homer to Brandon Butterworth over the left centerfield wall. Butterworth was 2-for-12 in the series with two home runs and five RBI.
