The injuries that depleted the Dodgers’ big league rotation created an opportunity in the minor leagues for a 20-year-old righthander. LOS ANGELES — In hindsight, the New York Yankees pitchers who gave up 26 runs in the first two games of this weekend’s World Series rematch made one big mistake – they threw too hard. The Dodgers are taking a flier on a former All-Star closer being able to help their injury-depleted and overworked bullpen. The Dodgers sent a minor-league pitcher to the Cincinnati Reds in a trade for right-hander Alexis Diaz. Diaz, 28, will not join the Dodgers immediately but will go to the team's spring training complex in Arizona where he will work with the team's player development staff.

#Dodgers could use 2022 Tony Gonsolin, the All-Star version, in their starting rotation. He looked like that guy for five innings as LAD finished off their longest road trip of the season with a win and a split in Arizona. https://t.co/Sw4g47KO1b
