It's a cycling group for everyone, and it's off to a great start. EveryBody Bikes is an inclusive cycling club that's for people of all ages and abilities to feel welcome while going on a ride with other bike-lovers. The group had its first ride amid GoByBike Week in Vernon Thursday evening, June 5. Dana Hudson founded the cycling group having noticed that some people, including herself, find other local cycling groups intimidating, too fast, or their routes too difficult.

People can pull the trigger and crank the throttle at a Vernon Fish and Game Club competition later this month. The club is holding a team off-road vehicle biathlon at its shooting range (202 Bardolph Lake Forest Service Road), starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 21. The event, aptly named Scoot and Shoot, is a four-stage competition consisting of two target shooting stages and two off-road vehicle stages. No previous firearm experience, training or licence is required to take part.

An Armstrong woman who was hit by a vehicle in a marked crosswalk near a school last fall has been trying to get the city to improve traffic safety in the area ever since. Kristin McCallum was walking her bicycle across the pedestrian crossing on Wood Avenue at Adair Street in September 2024 with her eight-year old son in tow, when a vehicle struck the back wheel of her bike, knocking her to the ground.

Hundreds of vendors are selling their wares to thousands of people this weekend at Vernon's 50th annual Creative Chaos Festival. The festival got underway Friday, June 6 and is on until Sunday at the Vernon Recreation Complex, with booths spread throughout the auditorium, Dogwood Gym, Priest Valley Arena and Vernon Curling Club. The half-centennial event featured 226 vendors selling a wide array of products, including crafts, jewellery, board games, food, art and much more.
