CLEVELAND — With the Super Bowl kicking off Sunday in Las Vegas, the gambling industry is gearing up for a big win by the billions in bets. Last year, Ohio joined 37 other states in legalizing sports betting. Within the first year, calls to the state's gambling help hotline have shot up 55 percent. Ohio For Responsible Gambling reports approximately 10,637 calls were made to Ohio's helpline in 2023. By comparison, that number was 6,835 one year earlier.

Baldwin Wallace University is sending a group of students to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Nevada. 25 students in the Sports Management program will attend and participate in the Big Game. For the past 12 years, BW has sent a group of students to the Super Bowl. Assistant Professor Tony Dick tells 3 News, the program continues to enhance the experience for students every year with a wide range of networking opportunity.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio's new social media law, the Social Media Parental Notification Act, was slated to go into effect today but is now headed to court. The law would require parental consent for children under the age of 16 to access certain social media sites. Governor Mike Dewine backed the law and was trying to push it into motion. Other states have also pushed for social media laws to limit kids' access like Arkansas, Utah, and California.
