Area Golf resultsDUBOIS — The Treasure Lake Womens Golf Association played a “ONES” event Thursday at the Silver Course, and Sharon Hay shot 5-under par to take home first-place honors. Second went to Vicki Struble (-3), while Mary Reed (-2) was third. There was a tie for fourth between Kareon Deloia and Anita Todd at -1. Players with birdies on the day were Struble (No. 3), Betsy Shuch (No. 12), Todd (No. 9) and Reed (No. 1).

CLEARFIELD — The Clearfield Junior American Legion baseball team ran its record to 5-0 with a 17-1, 5-inning trouncing of Kane Post 1132 Thursday evening in Elk/McKean League action at the Lawrence Township Rec Park. The Clearfield duo of Hayden Rumsky and Brodey Ryen combined to throw a no-hitter and were backed by an offense that pounded out 14 hits in scoring the 17 runs.

DUBOIS — The St. Marys softball team didn’t have issues putting the bat on the ball Thursday against District 6 power Bald Eagle Area but finding holes proved to be the bigger challenge, as BEA’s staunch defense proved to be the difference in the Lady Eagles’ 4-1 victory in a PIAA Class 3A quarterfinal game at Heindl Field.

PHILIPSBURG — The Spike Island Pirates scored two runs in each of the first four innings Thursday on their way to an 8-3, 5-inning rain shortened victory against Spring Mills in Centre County League action at Philipsburg-Osceola High School. Spike Island outhit Spring Mills, 7-2, with the Pirates duo of Jeremy Whitehead and Denny Prestash going 2-for-2 to lead that attack. Whitehead had two RBIs and a run scored, while Prestash had a RBI and scored twice.

BROCKWAY — The 10th Annual Frank Varischetti All-Star football game will be played at Frank Varischetti Field in Brockway on Friday, June 27. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.The North and South teams are comprised of members of the Class of 2025 who played football for one of 19 District 9 League schools. The South won, 20-0, last year. The North leads the series 5-4. The North includes Bradford, Brockway, Bucktail, Cameron County, Kane, Otto-Eldred, Port Allegany, Ridgway, Smethport and St. Marys.
