A review of the special care system for children aged between 11 and 17 years old has found it is in crisis, with critical bed shortages and staffing difficulties. The external review was commissioned by the Child & Family Agency, Tusla, to look at the system which is designed to provide secure therapeutic intervention for children who are subject to High Court orders.

Children are eager to return to study the Quran at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland's mosque, an online public meeting to discuss its closure has heard. The facility in Clonskeagh in Dublin remains closed following fractious scenes at and outside a meeting at the centre on 19 April. In a statement, the ICCI said the facility was closed "as a preventive measure to ensure the safety and security of the property, staff, children and members of the public".

Children at a primary school in Dublin are being given cameras to wear as they cycle or walk to school as part of a new citizen science project. The recordings captured by the children are being used to identify any high-risk parts of their journey. On her first day with a camera attached to her scooter, Síobha recorded a van driving through a red light at a pedestrian crossing on her way to school. The green man had shown, signalling it was safe to cross.

Several thousand people have taken part in the annual 'March for Life' event in Dublin city centre. The demonstration gathered on St Stephen's Green, across the road from the Newman University Church around 2pm before marching to Molesworth Street. The crowd then heard from speeches from speakers including Aontú Senator Sarah O'Reilly. Some of the participants told RTÉ they were there looking for a change in the law in Ireland to ban abortion.
