BLOOMFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) — An Ontario County factory has filed a WARN notice: Terphane. The Bloomfield facility makes flexible packaging, such as pouches for dog treats, containers for takeout and convenience food, plastic films, and more. According to the WARN notice, 49 workers will lose their jobs when the plant closes on June 30. Oben Group, a Brazil-based company, bought Terphane late last fall.

HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WROC) — The new location for Dick’s Sporting Goods in Henrietta has a grand opening date: May 9. The sporting goods giant will be making the move from Marketplace Mall. This new space has a smaller footprint, but the company has said it will be better to serve their clientele. There will be an opening weekend full of events, including special appearances from Buffalo Bills Dalton Kincaid on Saturday and Khalil Shakir on Sunday.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — This April 11 is the inaugural NYS Craft Beer Day. The first brewery opened in the state in the 1600s, and today, the industry continues to be a significant economic engine. According to Paul Leone, executive director of the New York State Brewers Association, there are now about 500 craft breweries in the state. All of those breweries employ about 2,200 people, which Leone says doesn’t even count big brewers like Genesee.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Constellation Brands, the beverage giant based in Rochester, has posted its year-end financials: topped by a 7% loss in operating income year-over-year. Ahead of its report, the company said it has divested some of its “mainstream” wine portfolio as part of a cost-saving plan. In the report, Constellation also hinted at “organizational” changes. Earlier this week, the CEO laid out changes to its DEI programs.

Today, Monroe County is beginning the process to upgrade to upgrade the town’s power, and working towards a new transformer. It would eventually unlock a 600 acre parcel for development; from manufacturing to housing. Exec. Bello calls this a critical upgrade.
