MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -On Saturday, the Meridian Railroad Museum hosted National Train Day, and people from all over the area came out to participate. From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., people could take a tour of the museum, learning the history and exploring the railroad train. There was also food and delicious cookies for those who came out to enjoy. Anne McKee, Executive Director of the Meridian Railroad Museum, says that the history of Meridian began in 1854.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -On Saturday, May 31st, the Dusty Social Service Club will host their 7th annual Make-A-Wish run starting at 8 am. This run will be held at Bonita Lakes Park, where many people from around the community can participate. The cost to participate in the 1-mile fun run is $15, $25 for the 5k, and $25 for the 2-mile walk, as the money raised goes towards Make-A-Wish.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -The 14th annual Wings & Tails event was hosted on Tuesday by the Mississippi Council of the Navy League at the Key Brothers Historic Hanger. From 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Many people were able to come out and enjoy catfish, shrimp, vintage aircraft and automobiles, live music, and more! This annual event supports nas meridian and those serving in the sea services.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Monday, the family of Julius Tadarius Jones held a balloon release in honor of his 40th birthday. The release was held on 23rd Avenue in front of the home where his remains were discovered back in January of this year. Everyone had purple balloons in honor of him, and even the Meridian Police Department Chief Deborah Naylor-Young, Detective, and Acting Captain Dareall Thompson came out to show their support on behalf of the department.
