SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Shreveport-Bossier gaming market had a great first quarter in 2025, according to an economic study conducted by LSU Shreveport. The study shows casinos had an 8.7% increase in revenue compared to the first quarter in 2024. LSUS economist, Douglas White, says he attributes the increase to the opening of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana. He says an expanding market means more people are coming into town and contributing to the local economy.

(KSLA) - The Shreveport Fire Department invites the public to learn about fire safety, tour fire stations, meet firefighters, and learn about a children’s burn camp during the open house, Hearts on Fire campaign. On May 31, the Shreveport Fire Department invites the public to the Hearts on Fire open house kicks off the I’m Still Me (CISM) camp, a free summer camp for children ages 5-17.

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) - Another fully rebuilt ramp has now reopened as part of the major I-20 construction project in Bossier City. DOTD announced Wednesday, May 28 that the I-20 westbound offramp at the LA 72 (Old Minden Road) interchange is now open to traffic; the westbound on-ramp will reopen soon. The eastbound on and offramps have already reopened.

(KSLA) - It’s been a collaborative effort between the community, a college, and the city to achieve one goal — the revitalization of Kings Highway. “The goal of the Kings Highway Revitalization Project really is to provide several different things in concert. So, we’re talking about pedestrian safety, access to businesses, and economic growth that can come from that. We’re also talking about changes to traffic,” Chris Lyons, the founding member of ReForm Shreveport, said.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming was in Shreveport on Tuesday, May 27 discussing a variety of topics from the legislature to his campaign for senate. KSLA’s Donna Keeya sat down with him. Earlier this spring, the Louisiana Department of Treasury launched its K-12 transparency website. On the page, showing expensive and revenues for public and charter schools in the state. Fleming says the website has gone well so far.
