Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel on the existential malaise of materialism through the lens of the “Roaring Twenties,” that had come out the previous year. A Broadway production soon followed.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information regarding two men who robbed the Brighton Bingo Hall before the end of last year. On Dec. 24, deputies were called to the hall on Patton Avenue, where they were told about a robbery that had happened. Surveillance footage showed one man with a yellow ballcap walk into the empty room first, picking up different stacks of money.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Longtime Alabama legislator Rep. John Rogers has been released early from prison and is now serving the remainder of his sentence on fraud at home, his attorney has confirmed. Back in February, attorney John Robbins requested that Rogers, 84, be allowed to serve the remainder of his prison sentence confined at home. The request came days after Rogers had undergone heart surgery go have a pacemaker put in.
