MOORHEAD — Minnesota State Moorhead added a veteran wing player with Division I experience to its men's basketball program. IU Indianapolis transfer Timaris Brown verbally committed to the Dragons, he announced Tuesday, June 3, via social media. Brown is the fourth Division I transfer head coach Jason Kemp has landed this offseason. Kemp can't comment on Brown until he signs. "The coaching staff was great," Brown said. "In our first meeting, he had a vision that lined up with mine perfectly.

MOORHEAD — Minnesota State Moorhead head coach Jason Kemp capped a string of signing announcements Monday, June 2, as he remakes the men's basketball roster heading into his first season of leading the program. Landin Hacker, a Division I transfer from Bellarmine (Kent.) University, made it official Monday, signing with the Dragons. Last week, MSUM inked West Illinois transfer Rodrick Payne, Northern Illinois transfer Dominic Gooden and Minnetonka (Minn.) High School's Isa El-Amin.

FARGO/GRAND FORKS — Sophie Scherweit belted a solo home run to help lift Central Cass to a 4-1 victory against Des Lacs-Burlington on Saturday for the North Dakota Class B softball state championship at Tharaldson Park in Fargo. Scherweit finished with two hits and scored two runs. The Squirrels earned their seventh state softball crown in program history. Sophomore pitcher Whitney Mitchell earned the complete-game victory in the title game against the Lakers.

WEST FARGO — Sarah Helderop scored two goals to lead Mandan to a 2-0 victory against Minot on Saturday for the North Dakota girls soccer state championship at West Fargo Sheyenne High School. Mandan won its first girls soccer state title in the program's first appearance in the championship game. Helderop scored five goals in three state tournament games. Mandan was the No. 2 seed from the West Region, knocking off West Region No. 1 seed Minot in the championship game.

FARGO/GRAND FORKS — Sophomore Max Zenker had two hits and three RBIs to help lift West Fargo Sheyenne to the North Dakota Class A baseball state championship Saturday at Kraft Field in Grand Forks. The Mustangs held off a late rally to earn a 6-5 against Minot for the title. Sheyenne has won four of the past five Class A state championships. Tate Herrmann and Jordan Clemenson also added two hits each for Sheyenne, which led 5-0 through five innings against the Magicians.
