GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A man has been arrested for attempted armed robbery and kidnapping in Grand Forks. Grand Forks Police say shortly before 2:30pm on Monday, officers were dispatched to 2122 17th Ave S for a report of a man that pointed a gun and another man who was in a car and then walked into the Islamic Center. When officers arrived, police say they began clearing victims who were in and around the building and tried to identify the location of the suspect.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A Minneapolis man has been indicted for threatening to murder a United States official, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. According to court documents, on March 26, 2025, Michael Paul Lewis, 52, called the office of a United States Congressperson and left a voicemail in which he threatened to murder her. The Congressperson has not been named.

MOORHEAD, MINN. (Valley News Live) - Moorhead firefighters responded to two different structure fire calls, Thursday evening. At about 7:23pm, they responded to a house fire in the 1700 block of 5th St. S. (a few blocks southwest of Concordia College). Fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the back of a residence and say flames had spread up the siding and to the soffit near the back door.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A Fargo man has been sentenced on federal robbery charges tied to an armed robbery at a gas station in 2024. Lucas Tavares(Cass County Jail)Acting United States Attorney Jennifer Klemetsrud Puhl announced that Lucas Tavares, 34, was sentenced by Chief Judge Peter Welte to serve eight years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release for the offense of Hobbs Act Robbery. Tavares was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment fee.
