ARLINGTON, Texas - The Los Angeles Dodgers' new $72 million closer has converted all but one of his nine save chances in the season's first month, but has also unsettled stomachs. He's posted a 2.25 ERA through his first 12 appearances in his new uniform, yet has hardly looked dominant. He arrived with a history of trouble throwing strikes, yet hasn't given out a single walk to the first 44 batters he's faced.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Perhaps it was simply wishful thinking for the Los Angeles Dodgers brass to speak of dreams of having so much pitching depth at the trade deadline that they'd be sellers. Pitching depth has a way of thinning out. And memories of the Dodgers' injury woes from a year ago had a way of flooding back on Sunday afternoon, as Tyler Glasnow exited his start against the Texas Rangers after just 52 pitches with an apparent injury.

ARLINGTON, Texas - On his 78th pitch, Roki Sasaki cracked a slight smile and smacked his glove. His day was complete after rolling up an inning-ending double play, and he'd taken another step forward. Saturday had marked a milestone and sparked concern all the same. His fastball velocity cratered enough to raise alarm bells about the 23-year-old's health. Then he went deeper than he has in any start early in his major-league career, completing six innings for the first time.

ARLINGTON, Texas - There are 325 million reasons to treat Yoshinobu Yamamoto's weekly main event as must-see viewing. There isn't a pitcher in the sport who has signed for a larger contract than the Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander, and few are pitching better than the diminutive 26-year-old. To watch him work is to embrace efficiency in motion and precision in command. His fastball goes wherever he wants it. His splitter explodes and nosedives toward the dirt. His curveball slows you down.

ARLINGTON, Tex. - Baby Ohtani is on their way. The Los Angeles Dodgers put Shohei Ohtani on the paternity list on Friday as the three-time MVP and his wife, Mamiko, await the birth of their first child. Ohtani can be on the list for up to three days, but could be back by the end of the Dodgers' weekend series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field, manager Dave Roberts said. The Dodgers selected veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario to take Ohtani's spot on the active roster.

Dave Roberts said Landon Knack will stick around for at least one more turn through the rotation. TBD which day it'll be against the Rockies.

The Dodgers won, 6-5. They are 10-4. They'll avoid the sweep in DC and finish the road trip at 2-4. The offense put up four runs in the first, they absorbed a short start from Landon Knack and Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernández came up huge in the seventh to win it.
