These ZIP codes are also paying a greater share of Chicago’s property tax burden than they did before COVID-19 struck:• 60607 — on the Near West Side — paid $313 million, about 3.8% of all property taxes in Chicago. Five years ago, it paid $190 million, about 2.8%. This was one of the largest increases in Chicago. The area’s soaring tax base is driven by redevelopment in the Fulton Market District as well as the Old Post Office, which has lured tenants from across the city and suburbs.
