PHOENIX – Aided by survivors – and with police and private security nearby – members of the Jewish Historical Society and state and local officials broke ground on a museum that they hope will become a destination for students to learn about the Holocaust. The formal event comes a year after state lawmakers approved $7 million for the facility to be built on the site of Phoenix’s first synagogue and two years after Phoenix voters approved a bond package including $2 million for the facility.

PHOENIX – State lawmakers gave final approval Wednesday to a controversial measure that would allow students and parents to sue teachers personally over what they contend are antisemitic statements and actions in the classroom. The 38-20 vote by the House for HB 2867 came over the objections of most Democrats who sought to differentiate between the issue of antisemitism and what’s in the bill. The Senate had previously given its approval by a 16-12 margin. β€œAntisemitism is wrong. Period.

Mexico is not dropping its lawsuit against five Arizona gun dealers despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling tossing a similar case against gun manufacturers. Steve Shadowen, an attorney who represents Mexico, told Capitol Media Services that the facts in that country's claim against Smith & Wesson and others are sufficiently different than those in the lawsuit filed here in 2022. kAm~?

Yes, voters approved Prop 308 to say that "dreamers" are entitled to in-state tuition at state universities. But provision in @AZHouseGOP budget could affect that, especially with new federal court ruling out of Texas. https://t.co/CBhTcVhW7q https://t.co/jvb534harS

Mel Brooks is a comic genius. And I always have loved his ability to push the limits to point out societal foibles like in Blazing Saddles.

Lawmakers resurrect enhanced animal cruelty bill, tho @BlackmanForAZ had to drop some provisions to line up the votes. But @realAlexKolodin still unhappy because of requirement to provide medical treatment regardless of your finances. https://t.co/59JGGPFcp0
