    Planning permission has been submitted for an expansion to a Galway city shopping centre that would see almost 500 square metres added to the site. Galway City Council received an application from Solus Holdings ULC this week for the construction of a coffee shop and two retail stores at an unused site near Knocknacarra Shopping Centre on Shangort Road.

The majority of Irish homes either have gardens out the front and/or back of the property with many having a trees that have seen multiple home owners. Given the lifespan of many trees, it's common for them to outlive multiple owners and gardeners, making it challenging to trace their planting history.

    If you're planning to stock up on supplies for the long weekend, shoppers are being warned to take note, as Ireland's major supermarkets have announced changes to their opening hours for Easter. This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 20, and stores including Dunnes Stores, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and SuperValu, will operate reduced hours across Easter Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday Monday, with some closing entirely on Easter Sunday.

    Met Eireann has issued several separate weather warnings for heavy rainfall across the country, including Co. Galway. A Status Yellow rain warning will be in place for Galway and Mayo from 6am on Friday to 9pm with the possibility of localised flooding. A similar rain warning for Cork and Kerry will be in place from 11pm on Thursday until noon on Friday, while Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford will be under a 24 hour warning from 6am on Friday until 6am on Saturday.

    A popular hotel just a few minutes from Galway city has been ranked as one of the top locations in Ireland for couples on their honeymoon. Honeymoon season is fast approaching, with Google searches for “Ireland honeymoon” rising by 18% over the past few months. Diamonds Factory Ireland compiled a list of the top 20 honeymoon hotels in Ireland using data from TripAdvisor. They then analysed TikTok hashtag data to determine which of these hotels were the best for a honeymoon in Ireland.
