The closures of favorites like Kaladi's, Rosie's Cafe, Papa Woody's, and more have been a big blow. Luckily, others like McNally's (new ownership) and Ode To Food (new location) managed to avoid closing, and most recently, The Cattitude Cafe got a new lease on life after putting out an urgent plea for funding from customers. But times are still tough out there.

    The same week we learned that speed limits are being lowered on some South Dakota roads, word is spreading that drivers in one neighboring state will soon be able to drive a little faster. WHERE ARE THE SPEED LIMITS GOING UP? In North Dakota, Governor Kelly Armstrong has signed a bill raising the speed limits on the interstates in the Peace Garden State. HOW MUCH ARE THEY GOING UP? The speed limits will be raised by five miles per hour, from 75 to 80, on Interstate 94 and Interstate 29.

    The latest food recall has people in 23 states searching their pantriesRECALLED PRODUCTThe U.S. Food and Drug Administration is reporting that 4,515 cases of Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans are being recalled due to the 'presence of undeclared soy.'Soybeans are one of the 'Big 9' food allergies, which also includes tree nuts and peanuts. The product can be identified by its Lot Code: Best if Used By Feb 17, 2028. The code is printed on the bottom of each can.

    This time of the year, you'd be hard pressed to find a major road, highway, or interstate in and around the area that isn't impacted in some way by construction. The latest to see traffic slowdowns is Interstate 29 in Sioux Falls. Impact on trafficA half-mile stretch at Exit 84, near the I-90 interchange, is reduced to a single lane while operations are being conducted on the shoulders and guardrail. The inside and outside shoulders in both the northbound and southbound lanes will be resurfaced.

    Nearly two million pressure cookers, sold at some of the biggest retailers in America, are being recalled after several reports of injuries associated with the product. WHY HAS THIS RECALL BEEN ISSUED? The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recall involves all Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers sold at Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, and Target stores nationwide, and online from January 2019 through March 2025.
