GREEN BAY — The last time there wasn't a single NFL Draft pick from South Dakota was in 2016. That year's South Dakota State Jackrabbits team had a handful of players who would eventually make their way to the doorstep of the NFL (some of whom are still playing today), but they were underclassmen. That would make the North Dakota State offensive lineman the first South Dakotan to be selected in the first round since Parkston's Riley Reiff in 2012.

RENNER — If they gave out Gold Gloves in amateur baseball, Chaz Palmer would have a few from his decade-plus of patrolling centerfield for the Renner Monarchs. But over the years, even Palmer has had trouble tracking fly balls in the twilight hours at historic Renner Ballpark. So the Sioux Falls native, who now manages the Monarchs with teammate David Borchardt, is hoping to do something to fix it.
