The Indiana Fever are once again at the center of the WNBA after two scuffles broke out against the Connecticut Sun in Indianapolis on June 17. It all started when Sun guard Jacy Sheldon poked Fever guard Caitlin Clark in the eye while Clark was trying to pass the ball in the third quarter. Clark reacted immediately by grabbing her face and turning back to Sheldon. The two shoved each other as their teammates ran in. Sun guard Marina Mabrey ran into the scrum and knocked Clark to the ground.

Arizona native Auston Matthews is among the first six players announced to represent Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Matthews will be the fourth Arizona native to represent Team USA in hockey, joining Matthew Knies in 2022, Broc Little in 2018 and Lyndsey Fry in 2014. Matthews represented the U.S. in the Four Nations Face-Off and had three assists in three games in the tournament.

Phoenix Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts teased that help could soon come for his team after being ravaged with injuries and that help could come against the Dallas Wings on June 11 at PHX Arena. Mercury forwards Alyssa Thomas and Natasha Mack are probable to return to the lineup.
