Arizona has reported a 171% increase in child deaths by firearms over the past decade. A new report from the Arizona Department of Health Services shows that 415 of 853 child deaths in the state last year were preventable. Maricopa County reports low wait times, no problems with voting centers

Polls are open in Arizona until 7 p.m. Any voter who is in line by then will be able to cast their ballot. Maricopa County voters were turning out in the tens of thousands during the first half of Election Day, Nov. 5. Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates said at a press conference that, as of 11 a.m., more than 93,000 voters had checked in at the county’s 246 polling locations. Gates said all of the polling locations opened on time at 6 a.m. and no voting centers have needed to shut down.

Prop 137 would take away Arizona voters’ ability to weigh in on judges’ performance, essentially giving judges lifetime appointments. Arizona is a unique state when it comes to how we put judges in power. Judges on the highest courts—the Arizona Supreme Court and the Arizona Court of Appeals—are chosen by the governor. However, the public gets a chance to decide if a judge deserves to keep their job every six years in what’s called a retention election.
