FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Winter is coming... Which is great! Arizona Snowbowl announced that they'll be opening two weeks early for the 2024-2025 winter season. "This marks the earliest opening day in the resort’s 86-year history," Arizona Snowbowl said as part of the announcement.
Woman killed in crash on I-17 in Phoenix, 2 others seriously hurt

PHOENIX — A woman is dead and two other people are in the hospital after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 17 in Phoenix Thursday morning. The crash happened around 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Adams Street. According to the Department of Public safety, the woman was driving in the wrong lane and struck the other victims' car. DPS said that the two people in the second vehicle, a man and a woman, were seriously injured. The identity of the deceased hasn't been released.

Eli Crane is running against former Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez to represent Arizona's 2nd Congressional District, which encompasses Flagstaff and much of the Navajo Nation. The population of CD2 is almost a quarter Native American — a voting bloc that recently skyrocketed in prominence after their influential involvement in the 2020 presidential election.

MESA, Ariz. — Incumbent Rep. Greg Stanton is running against political newcomer Kelly Cooper in the race to represent much of the East Valley. Arizona's 4th Congressional district stretches from Ahwatukee Foothills to northeast Mesa, covering most of Tempe, as well as parts of Phoenix, Chandler and Gilbert. PHOENIX — Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes spoke to the public Tuesday morning to give an update on the status of the 2024 General Election. Fontes was optimistic and shared further details about the procedure but warned that voters could face long lines and long counting periods. "Everything in the state of Arizona is running about as smoothly as could be," Fontes said. Many counties estimate they'll have around 55% of the votes counted by end of polling today.

PEORIA, Ariz. — A Peoria man is facing first-degree murder charges after the death of his 2-year-old stepchild, the city's police department announced Tuesday. The incident started on Oct. 24 when 26-year-old Hein Lwin reported that the child was choking on a cloth. First responders attempted life-saving measures and rushed the child to the hospital.

Closures in place after suspicious package seen near Maricopa County Sheriff's headquarters in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Parts of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office headquarters in downtown Phoenix have been closed off after a suspicious package was seen outside the building on Monday. 12News crews in the area photographed a light blue backpack left on the north side walkway of the 550 West Jackson Street location in Phoenix. The area was closed off for foot traffic and multiple deputies were seen nearby. At this time, it is unclear if officials are evacuating the building.
