ROCHESTER — Rochester Public Schools has submitted a two-page appeal to the U.S. Department of Education regarding the discontinuation of a $1.9 million grant originally meant to increase the number of mental health workers in the school district, particularly those from "underrepresented backgrounds." RPS was originally awarded the grant in 2023. The Department of Education notified RPS earlier this month that it would discontinue the grant because of the priorities of the new administration.

BARNESVILLE, Minn. — Barnesville students will be able to participate in Rochester Public Schools’ virtual school, MNsync Online, while still being enrolled in their own district. On Monday, May 19, the Barnesville School Board approved an agreement with Rochester Public Schools, allowing students from Barnesville to take advantage of MNSync classes.

Mrs. Sharon Kay Dreyer, the daughter of the late Frank and Ora Baker, passed away peacefully at age 85 on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at her residence in Inver Grove Heights, MN. Sharon was vibrant and always on the go, a world traveler who had visited over 60 countries, as well as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She looked forward to playing cards, going to the movies, and performances at the Ordway. Never idle, Sharon enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and gardening.
