December 17, 1942 – June 2, 2025Geraldine Christine Schmall, age 82, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed peacefully on June 2nd at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a sudden illness (cerebral hemorrhage). Geri spent her final moments with her daughter Shona and her friend/caregiver Lia Ulrich, before entering the kingdom of heaven. Geri was born in Hazen, North Dakota on December 17, 1942 to Erwin and Rhea Benz.

Jun. 19—WABASHA, Minn. — A woman is dead and a Rochester man is in custody following an incident in Wabasha County Wednesday that later prompted a shelter in place order in Olmsted County. Officials from the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office said the office received a call around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday with a report from near West Newton, Minnesota, that a woman had been seriously hurt and needed medical attention.
