Marcel is the sort of place where you instinctively lower your voice and add a swagger to your step as you’re escorted back to a red leather booth inside the dark, moody space. The tender bone-in filet will give your wallet a Billy Blanks-level workout, but Marcel has solidified its status as the city's premier steakhouse and is a great choice for date nights or for impressing out-of-towners.

The Midtown landscape changes more often than your virtual work desk makes you change passwords. But this neighborhood gay bar (about the size of a broom closet) sits across the street from Midtown Bowl and has remained a fixture for decades. You're not here for a party scene. And there's no decor on the walls unless you count the three dart boards next to the bar. But the lack of environment and fanfare won’t bother you because you're here for the strong drinks.

This little market in Decatur is next door to Smiley’s Burger Club and offers grocery necessities (usual suspects like pasta, milk, and canned goods) and a surprisingly large selection of craft brews and wines. But their superpower is their deli. At the little counter tucked on the side, you’re invited to build your own sandwich. But just get one of their signature creations because they’re tough to top.

RESERVE A TABLEFor more than 25 years, Cafe Lily has occupied the corner where the two Ponce de Leon streets intersect in Decatur. In all that time, the Mediterranean restaurant hasn’t changed much—it sort of feels like that classic black-and-white movie you still prefer over Transformers 12. There’s still a massive wall of windows that streams light onto a sea of white vinyl tablecloths.
