    The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild the Interstate 80 bridges over Interstate 55, in Joliet, Channahon and Shorewood, a full closure will be required on southbound I-55 at I-80. The closures are necessary to safely remove existing steel beams on the I-80 bridge over the expressway. Starting at 9 tonight, northbound I-55 will be reduced to one lane between U.S. 6 and Illinois 59.

    A serial burglar, who is on parole, could spend the next 30 years in prison for burglarizing the Old Route 66 Family Restaurant in Dwight around 1:30 p.m. on April 7th. The Dwight Police Department said Andrew Viles, 40, of Morris went into the business, stole the cash register and then left the area. No injuries were reported and no weapons were used during the burglary.

    Coal City Village Administrator Matt Fritz was in our studios last week providing an update about work that will be taking place on the north water tower. In July of 2024, the Village Board approved a $893,000 bid to clean and repaint the north water tower. "It was gonna be green and right before we did it we're hearing from communities that have done the dark colors that it really heats up the column and the water. So, it's gonna be white with green garnish on there.
