Closures During Rebuild of I-80 Bridge Over I-55

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild the Interstate 80 bridges over Interstate 55, in Joliet, Channahon and Shorewood, a full closure will be required on southbound I-55 at I-80. The closures are necessary to safely remove existing steel beams on the I-80 bridge over the expressway. Starting at 9 tonight, northbound I-55 will be reduced to one lane between U.S. 6 and Illinois 59.

A serial burglar, who is on parole, could spend the next 30 years in prison for burglarizing the Old Route 66 Family Restaurant in Dwight around 1:30 p.m. on April 7th. The Dwight Police Department said Andrew Viles, 40, of Morris went into the business, stole the cash register and then left the area. No injuries were reported and no weapons were used during the burglary.

Coal City Village Administrator Matt Fritz was in our studios last week providing an update about work that will be taking place on the north water tower. In July of 2024, the Village Board approved a $893,000 bid to clean and repaint the north water tower. "It was gonna be green and right before we did it we're hearing from communities that have done the dark colors that it really heats up the column and the water. Dwight Business Robbery Under Investigation

At approximately 1:30 this afternoon, Dwight officers responded to the 100 block of South Old Rt 66 in reference to a robbery. Upon our arrival the male suspect had left the area. No injuries were reported and no weapons used. Dwight officers are following up on several leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dwight PD at [email protected]. Dwight PD was assisted at the scene by the Livingston County Sheriffs Office, Pontiac Police Department and VCom.
Minooka Woman Facing Three Child Abduction Charges

Three child abduction charges were recently filed against a Minooka woman in Kendall County. Charise Simpson is facing the four class four felonies charges. The 36-year-old Simpson was arrested by the Minooka Police Department on Gallant Drive on April 1st. Minooka Police Chief Justin Meyer said Simpson is accused of moving her three children from Texas to Minooka in late March due to a court order preventing her.

The Minooka Village Board had their monthly meeting recently. Village Administrator Dan Duffy said the board approved the purchase of a piece of equipment from CIT Trucks. Morris Police Chief Alicia Steffes said officers can respond for drivers who lock their keys in the vehicle. "We do offer that service while we're talking about it. Lock your keys in your car and, if an officer is available, we'll come out and break into your car for you, legally, yes and with your permission and signed release of liability all that.
