    CLOVIS, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) – The New Mexico Environment Department announced that during the spring it will offer Clovis residents living near Cannon Air Force Base, as well as Cannon AFB personnel, the opportunity to have their blood tested for specified per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) free of charge. The NMED said that it will seek to host two events where up to 500 adult volunteers will have a small amount of blood drawn and tested for PFAS.

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — High winds and low visibility are expected for Monday evening into early Tuesday, meaning poor road conditions across the High Plains. Blizzard conditions caused several road closures across the region on Monday, even stranding many drivers, especially in Moore County. TxDOT Amarillo officials said on Monday they encourage people to avoid driving if at all possible while winter weather continues.

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — 2024 could be a good year for homebuyers in Amarillo. Interest rate cuts are expected from the Fed this year, meaning lower rates on long-term mortgages. According to mortgage buyer Freddie Mac on Thursday, the average rate on a 30-year mortgage increased to 6.62%, up from 6.61% last week. A year ago, they said the rate averaged 6.48%However, the Fed has signaled interest rate cuts are coming in 2024.

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — An initiating committee is gathering petition signatures with the hope that the Amarillo City Council will pass an ordinance making it a “sanctuary city for the unborn,” effectively outlawing abortion and adding other restrictions. The Amarillo City Council has already met and discussed a potential anti-abortion ordinance. Last month, they were given three proposed versions of an ordinance but they have not taken any action yet.
