Beers and breweries from across the state were honored Thursday at the 10th annual Oregon Beer Awards at Southeast Portland’s Revolution Hall. The Oregon Beer Awards, which celebrates and promotes the state’s best beer, breweries and taprooms, began in 2015 and is Oregon’s most prestigious brewing industry competition. If you are enjoying the dry, sunny (though very cold) weather, soak it in. It looks like rain is on the way. The National Weather Service in Portland is forecasting wetter weather starting Wednesday or Thursday, though forecasters acknowledge that models are not entirely in agreement. Portland and much of western Oregon can expect a chilly and sunny Saturday, followed by another night of frigid temperatures. The National Weather Service in Portland issued a cold weather advisory till 10 a.m. Saturday, then again for 10 p.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Sunday. NWS says temperatures will feel as low as 25 degrees in the Portland metro area overnight and 15 degrees in other areas covered by the advisory.

It had been years since we’d spent any time in or around Depoe Bay, so I needed expert advice. I found a story from The Oregonian/OregonLive’s Jamie Hale, scrolled through, ate at a spot he recommended near our rental house and – wouldn’t you know it? – the fish and chips were, in fact, excellent.
