PHOENIX — One person is dead after a shooting reported Monday afternoon in south Phoenix. Phoenix police said officers were dispatched to the area of 24th Street and Baseline Road at about 1:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The wounded man was transported to a hospital and died. Police said a man has been detained at the scene and homicide detectives will be taking over the investigation.

APACHE COUNTY, Ariz. — A fire reported early Monday morning has shut down the main campus of Diné College on the Navajo Nation. College officials said the fire was reported at the campus' student union building after smoke was detected in the area. The fire has interrupted propane service, leaving the campus' housing facilities without access to heating. Temporary heating solutions are being organized. All classes have been temporarily canceled and will be transitioned to an online format.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Ariz. — Border Patrol officials were dispatched Sunday to track down a lost hiker in southern Arizona. Agents responded to a call from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office to help with rescuing an injured hiker on the Arizona Trail near Pauline Ridge. Agents on the ground managed to locate the hiker who had reportedly been lost for two days, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
