    BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. — An Arizona school district claims a TikTok challenge may be connected to recent reports of vandalized property at two of its campuses. The Bullhead City School District said Thursday that students at Bullhead City Middle School had to be briefly evacuated after a laptop started emitting smoke in a classroom. No injuries were reported.

    PHOENIX — Indu, an Asian elephant and longtime resident of the Phoenix Zoo, was humanely euthanized Thursday morning following a decline in health. Indu arrived at the Valley zoo in 1998 and was 59 at the time of her death, living past the average life expectancy for Asian elephants in captivity. Zoo officials said Indu was the facility's last resident elephant.

    PHOENIX — An Arizona resident has been sentenced to 52 months in prison for his involvement in a human smuggling incident that ended in a fatality. Cesar Velasquez-Munoz, 20, of Peoria previously pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens for profit placing in jeopardy the life of any person, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office of Arizona. In March 2024, the defendant and another person, Steven Beltran-Lugo, picked up two migrants near the U.S.-Mexico border.
