BALTIMORE -- Kody Clemens hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning as the Minnesota Twins capped a doubleheader sweep of the Baltimore Orioles with an 8-6 victory to run their winning streak to 10 games Wednesday. Minnesota, which trailed 3-0 before rallying for a 6-3 victory in Game 1, fell behind 6-4 in Game 2 before coming back. The 10-game winning streak is the longest in the majors this season. Minnesota had a double-digit win streak in 2024 as well, winning 12 straight.

SAN DIEGO -- Hard-throwing reliever Ben Joyce will miss the rest of the Los Angeles Angels' season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder. The Angels announced the setback Wednesday for Joyce, who went on the injured list a month ago with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. The team declined to provide any specifics about the nature of the latest injury and surgery for the 6-foot-5 Joyce, who can throw a 105 mph fastball when healthy.

Matt Carpenter, a three-time All-Star who played 14 major league seasons, is retiring from baseball. He made the announcement Wednesday on Sports Spectrum's "Get in the Game" podcast hosted by former teammate Scott Linebrink. Carpenter, an infielder, was selected by the Cardinals in the 13th round of the 2009 MLB Draft out of TCU. He spent his first 11 seasons with St. Louis (2011-21), followed by single seasons with the Yankees in 2022 and Padres in 2023.
