A man who was fatally shot at a Mission Valley hotel earlier this week has been identified as a Los Angeles County resident who was on a work trip with the suspected killer, San Diego police said Thursday. Damian Martinez, 19, of El Monte, was found dead in a hallway at the Handlery Hotel on Hotel Circle North about 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, according to homicide Lt. Lou Maggi. A second victim, 23, was found outside the lobby of the hotel suffering from gunshot wounds. He was expected to survive.
