    A total of ten people — half of them firefighters — were injured, though not badly, in a fire in a residential apartment building in upper Manhattan Saturday morning, the FDNY said.     A three-alarm fire broke out in a church in the Rockaways Saturday afternoon. More than 100 firefighters and EMS medics responded to a blaze that started around 2 p.m. at St. Edmund Church near Rockaway Point Blvd. in Breezy Point. The fire burned through the roof of the church, FDNY said. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the incident as the fire was placed under control at 3:30 p.m.It remained unclear what sparked the blaze as FDNY personnel are still investigating.

    Mount Sinai Health System has officially pulled the plug on Manhattan’s Beth Israel Hospital. At 8 a.m. Wednesday, the historic Gramercy health hub, at 16th St. and First Ave., shuttered its emergency room, the last part of the 135-year-old hospital still functioning. The previous morning, the New York Appellate Division had ruled in favor of Mount Sinai against a community lawsuit filed to block the closure, which, in turn, lifted a restraining order, allowing the final shutdown to proceed.
