CHICAGO (WGN) — A sixth grader from Central Illinois just won some very cool bragging rights. Andrea Rebong beat out thousands of other students to win Southwest Airlines’ national tie design contest. The Macon County sixth-grader said she was inspired while participating in the Adopt-a-Pilot program at her school. Pilots across the country volunteer throughout the year to teach students about aviation and STEM activities.

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (WGN) — Authorities in Kane County offered updates on a shooting that left a carjacking suspect and a police K9 dead in mid-2023. During the conference, Mosser provided an updated timeline leading up to the incident and shared video captured by body cameras and squad car dash cams. Moriarty was fatally shot by deputies at Fabyan Parkway and Randall Road near the border of Batavia and Geneva on May 24, 2023.
