BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — The Midwest Food Bank is helping farmers in North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene. About a month ago, a local Illinois farmer stopped by the organization and donated over 600 large round alfalfa hay bales. Now, the Midwest Food Bank is in the process of getting it to those who need it. The Chief Executive Officer, Eric Holder, said these donations are important because the dairy and cattlemen in North Carolina had their hay washed away.

The Soderstrom family puts on a Halloween show for trick-or-treaters at their castle in Peoria Heights. Every year comes a new theme, and this year is “Monster Party.” The Peoria Players help make their decorations extra special, with live music and lights. Hundreds of kids and parents alike come dressed in costumes to see ghosts, goblins and monsters and get a full-sized candy bar.

Kids donned costumes like Anna and Elsa, a wizard, Wednesday, a dinosaur, a skeleton, and more as they roamed around the park, exploring all the activities the Scary Park has to offer. “Wildlife Scary Park is our spookiest adventure of the season,” said marketing specialist Brandi Simpson.
