This edition focuses on the Woolpack, which is on the corner of Tuddenham Road and Westerfield Road near Christchurch Park. Full disclosure: I used to live right by the Woolpack, which dates back to the 16th century, so my visit for this piece was not my first.

2 1/1 We are back with our pub of the week feature, where we shine the spotlight on one of the many wonderful boozers that can be found in and around Ipswich. This week we are at Three Wise Monkeys in Lloyds Avenue - which is certainly a lively place, in the best way. I headed down for some lunch one Friday afternoon to find there were a few people getting their pints in nice and early for the weekend, which is behaviour I absolutely approve of.

Ed Sheeran opened the Old Phone pub in Ipswich, just not the Suffolk one (Image: Charlotte Bond) Ed Sheeran has opened a new pub in Ipswich - but the venue is more than 3,000 miles away from Suffolk. That's because the Framlingham-raised star's boozer - named the Old Phone - is in a town of the same name in Massachusetts, just north of Boston. To make matters more confusing, the American town of Ipswich, home to more than 10,000 people, is in Essex County.

Domink Burcin, of Marigold Drive in Red Lodge, near Mildenhall, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court last month. He was charged with attempting to cause or incite a girl of the age of 14 to engage in sexual activity.

Operation Santa Appeal sees Suffolk charities awarded vital grants

Charities and other good causes from across Suffolk came together to mark a fundraising effort as part of the annual Operation Santa Appeal. Venue 16 in Tuddenham Road outside Ipswich hosted last Friday evening's celebrations, which saw cheques handed out to more than a dozen organisations. The Operation Santa Appeal generated a grand total of £17,500, which was achieved through donations and an auction of Christmas-related goodies in the build-up to the festive period.

But, having lived and worked in Ipswich for more than half a decade, I know Hank's pub has become something of an Ipswich institution over the years. So, I trodded down to St Helen's Street with a few work colleagues one cold Thursday evening to see what all the fuss was about. I went in with an open mind, knowing this was one of the few occasions in my life that I had tried dedicated vegan food.
Ipswich woman Claire Rivitt sentenced for PC assault

Claire Rivitt attacked a police officer (file image) A 54-year-old Ipswich woman has been fined and told to pay compensation for two assaults - one of which was of a police officer. Claire Rivitt, who is of Spring Road in the town, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court earlier this month facing two charges. They were both assault by beating, though one was against an emergency worker. Both offences related to an incident in Ipswich last year.
Ipswich man fined for having no insurance or valid licence

A 33-year-old man has been sentenced after he was caught behind the wheel of a car while he had no insurance and no valid licence. Ryan Evans, of Garrick Way, Ipswich, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court earlier this month charged with two offences. These were driving without valid insurance and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Both charges related to a Fiat Punto being pulled over in Norwich Road in Ipswich on July 30 last year, a court listing said.
