Mississippi sports fans are waking up in anticipation for the big game in Oxford. Tens of thousands will either be at the game or watching it at home. Friday, Mississippi State will take on Ole Miss for the 51st Egg Bowl at Vaught Hemingway Stadium in Oxford. There's a lot at stake in this game. Not only is it a rivalry game, but this could be the Rebels' last chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs. "This is the game that I grew up watching. All my family is coming to it.

Over 1,500 meals are being delivered to families in Jackson. Thursday morning, dozens of volunteers met at the Salvation Army on Beasley Road to pack meals for needy families in the capital city. Volunteers made the choice to serve the community on a day when many are spending time cooking with family. Some of those volunteers included a youth ministry from Mt. Hood in Clinton.

The United States Geological Survey reported a small earthquake hit Canton overnight Thursday. The agency reported a magnitude 2.5 earthquake hit southeast of Canton around 1:48 a.m.The magnitude may have been weak, but it's not the first time Mississippi experienced an earthquake. In December 2018, a magnitude 2.8 earthquake hit Madison, not far from the same area. The New Madrid Seismic Zone, a major fault line, runs through parts of central Mississippi.

Jackson police and the Hinds County coroner have cleared the scene of a crash on I-55 in Northeast Jackson.At about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, our crews on the scene said they saw a body lying in the road on the interstate near County Line Road. Our crews said they also saw a UPS truck pulled over nearby.The lanes have since been reopened.We've reached out to Jackson Police for more information and are awaiting more details.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol has begun its 2024 Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Period.Troopers are asking drivers to be extra cautious as they're prepared to see more cars hit the roads during the travel period.“We want drivers to know to be prepared, to be safe. Leave a little early, prepare for your travels. We’re going to be out there," said Trooper Darnika Mayfield.Troopers say they're making sure drivers are wearing their seatbelts, driving under the speed limit, and not drunk driving.
