The eastbound U.S. 60 highway in Mesa was reopened after being closed for more than an hour following a fatal crash on April 29, according to transportation officials. The closure was established at Superstition Springs Boulevard, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in a post about 5:30 a.m. on X.com, formerly Twitter. Some Arizona residents had their personal information stolen and used by a Michigan man and other individuals as part of a large-scale, multi-state unemployment insurance benefit fraud scheme, according to federal authorities. The group used the stolen personal identification and filed hundreds of false unemployment claims with unemployment insurance agencies in Michigan, Arizona, and Maryland over a six-month period, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced April 23 in a news release.

A portion of I-10 eastbound is slated for closure, between U.S. 60 and Loop 202 Santan/South Mountain Freeway, so crews can complete work as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. ADOT officials said the closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, April 25-28, in parts of Tempe and Chandler. Crews will perform drainage and work on pavement markings.
