DuBOIS, Pa. (EYT) — Nevin Day has been brilliant all season on the mound for the Punxsutawney baseball team. He needed to be brilliant again against red-hot DuBois Central Catholic on Monday afternoon at Stern Field. And he was. Day tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out four, walking one and running his personal scoreless inning streak to 19 as the Chucks edged DCC, 1-0.

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. (EYT) — As Lily Staab rounded third base, there was a hoard of Warriors waiting for her at home plate. They yelled. They screamed. They jumped up and down. And they mobbed Staab as she stepped on home plate. It was the second of Staab’s two home runs on a blustery late afternoon at Moniteau High School. NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) — It wasn’t the best day to do the pole vault. It was windy. It was rainy. It was brisk. Ella Rizzo didn’t mind. The Redbank Valley junior turned it into a pretty good day to do the pole vault, after all, on Wednesday against Union/A-C Valley. Rizzo cleared 11 feet, 1 inch in the event to break the school record of 11 feet, which was set by Elizabeth Gourley in 2014.

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Braylon Wagner went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored and struck out 13 on the mound to get the win as the Redbank Valley baseball team downed Curwensville, 6-2, on Friday afternoon. Wagner worked 6⅓ innings, giving up two runs on four hits to go with his 13 Ks.Carson Gould worked got the final two outs. Gould also had a pair of hits, as did Breckin Minich, as the Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the second and cruised.
