SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A former deputy who worked for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for the past 30 years says she was fired for political reasons. Now she has filed a federal lawsuit against Sheriff Kandy Fatheree and Summit County. Stacy Clark admits she supported sheriff Kandy Fatheree’s opponent in last fall’s election. “The community needs to know what the sheriff is doing,” said Stacy Clark. Clark has devoted her life to both her country and community.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A former Akron police officer is now being sued after shooting a teen who was carrying a fake gun last spring. That officer has since been fired ― but city officials say it’s not because of this incident. Tavion Koonce-Williams was 15 years old when former Akron police officer Ryan Westlake shot him in the hand.

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - A national foundation is announcing that a protest will be held in Garfield Heights next week to denounce the brutal student violence and the school district’s failure to address the situation. Foundation officials say they’re also preparing a class-action lawsuit against school officials, on behalf of students who have been affected by that violence.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A national law enforcement association announced that violent crimes have gone down in all three of Ohio’s major cities, including Cleveland. However, when compared to last year, there’s one violent crime that has gone up. With the reported reduction in major crimes, Mayor Justin Bibb feels things are looking up. ”Homicides are down over 20%,” said Bibb. “Every department in the City of Cleveland is working to keep our streets safe,”.
