    There could be a mix up coming for Oregon’s high school classifications and districts in the next couple of years. On Monday, the executive board of the Oregon School Activities Association approved the reformation of a classification and district committee. The classification and district committee will begin meeting in August and is scheduled to meet through December, where it will begin sending recommendations to the OSAA’s executive board and the delegate assembly.

    Oregon’s best ever pole vaulter has once again eclipsed her own state record. Churchill junior Addison Kleinke, competing unattached, won the pole vault at the Oregon Twilight meet on Friday afternoon at Hayward Field. Kleinke’s winning height was 14 feet, 0.75 inches. It’s just a quarter-inch higher than her previous state record of 14-0.5 from last year.

    One of the top players in Oregon will be heading down to California to play college basketball. On Friday afternoon, Barlow’s Jalen Atkins announced on social media that he is committed to Biola University. Atkins has been a crucial piece to Barlow’s run over the past few years. In three seasons of starting for the Bruins, Atkins has led the team to a combined 73-16 record. In the 2024-25 season, Barlow went 27-3 and won the OSAA Class 6A state championship.

    Portland voters have the chance to decide on a $1.83 billion bond this month, and while the bulk of the cost will be going towards rebuilding and modernizing Cleveland, Ida B. Wells and Jefferson high schools, there will also be a sizable amount going towards athletics upgrades elsewhere in the city. Currently, $79 million of the bond is earmarked for athletics.

    On Thursday, UCLA freshman Addisen Fisher was named one of the 10 finalists for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Freshman of the Year award. The Bend High School alumna found herself as one of UCLA’s top pitchers in the 2024-25 school year. She had a team-high 30 appearances with 15 starts. In 103.2 innings pitched, Fisher had a 16-1 record with a 2.43 ERA. She allowed 95 hits and 44 runs with 40 walks and 93 strikeouts.
