LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The man who allegedly went to the Elyria Police Station with the “explicit intent of killing an officer,” but when he did not find one in the lobby, he attacked a woman instead, has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Daniel Carrillo remains locked up in the Lorain County Jail and his attorney filed a motion to determine whether Carrillo is competent to stand trial.

MANSFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) - Sixteen-year-old Trentin Isaac was found dead after going missing back in November of 2024. His mother, Amanda Craft, and other family members are holding the Uniting For Justice Rally on Saturday. They’re hoping the rally Saturday afternoon will help bring awareness not only to Trentin’s case but to others in their community. “Everybody that’s murdered is somebody’s loved one,” said Craft.

LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) - The 53-year-old Grafton woman accused of a deadly hit and run in Lorain, was indicted by a Lorain County Grand Jury. Lynda Wright was indicted on the charges of failure to stop after an accident, vehicular homicide, and tampering with evidence. According to police, Wright was driving westbound in the 1400 block of Cooper Foster Park Rd. around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 8, when she struck a male pedestrian and then fled the scene. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Willoughby Fire Department held a parade Sunday for International Firefighters Day. They also took time to remember the firefighters who have lost their lives all across the United States. This year, The National Fallen Firefighters Weekend remembered 140 firefighters who gave their life to protect others. Nine of them are from Ohio. Willoughby Fire Chief Todd Ungar spoke with 19 News ahead of the events on Sunday.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Local police are looking for several people after multiple credit card skimmers were found around town. Lt. Michael Murphy says in the past 2 weeks, Akron Police has found 3 credit card skimmers at local businesses. The skimmers were attached to credit card readers and were potentially stealing people’s information. The first skimmer was found at the CVS on east market. Murphy tells me he doesn’t know how long it was there, but the device was hidden inside the card slot.
