SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Minnesota Avenue commuters, make way for the Cliff Avenue detour. Cliff Avenue will close on Tuesday, May 27, as part of the 1-229 interchange exits and related construction. Cliff Avenue will be closed to all traffic from north of the existing northbound Interstate 229 exit ramps to 38th Street. The directed detour will be to Minnesota Avenue. “I’m expecting to see around 12,000 vehicles go to Minnesota,” said Heath Hoftiezer, traffic engineer for the city of Sioux Falls.

(KELO) — If you’re a member of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in rural Kidder, there is a chance that Bryan Hawkinson and his wife will dig the grave for your cremated remains. “I don’t ever charge, but I will accept donations,” Hawkinson said. “A lot of times that (donation) goes back to the cemetery.”Preparing a grave for cremated remains isn’t part of Hawkinson’s job title as church cemetery sexton, but he will do it.

Jim Mehlhaff said he doesn’t want the state to pursue a project that fits only a few years with a need to address additional issues. “If we do that, we’ve failed,” Mehlhaff said. A prison project is something the state wants to do every 50 to 100 years, he said.
