Staffing concerns continue to plague the Clarion County Jail as rapid turnover rates create perpetual stress for many workers. At Friday’s jail inspection board meeting, a personnel report revealed there were four new correctional officers (COs) hired at the jail and one promotion last month, but that the staff lost four employees including Assistant Warden Dianne Smith in the same span of days.

CLARION -- The Clarion County Courthouse renovation project took an unusual turn during this month’s Clarion County Commissioner’s meeting, a turn that included a familiar name, Phil Deets. Following the announcement that Deets, L.L.C., the successor contractor for the HVAC portion of the renovation, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the county needed to proceed with the renovation project.

The Clarion DemocratMay 2, 1929William Sansom, Editor- The Clarion County Commissioners announced this week that Clarion County would receive in the neighborhood of $1,000,000 from the state this year in the construction of good roads. This will give Clarion about 30 miles of improved roads to be constructed this year. A portion of them will be of concrete and the balance water bound macadam. This is a magnificent gift to the county as this is at least one-tenth of our valuation.
