    The Clarion County Jail Inspection Board unanimously approved a recommendation to hire a second full-time nurse at the jail. Warden Sherry Yates explained during the board’s meeting on Friday that a second nurse would be required in order to enter into the Medical Assistance Program. MAP mandates round-the-clock supervision for inmates who had been on a prescribed addiction assistance drug prior to incarceration.

    KNOXElementary students got a fun little challenge last month when they were charged with the task of creating animals out of Lego blocks as part of Remake Learning Days in Clarion County. “The kids were challenged with building an animal this year, either a 3D or 2D animal of their choice,” said. “We gave them a base plate and some Legos and see what they create,” said Ryan Smith, the Elementary Technology Integration teacher at Keystone.

    The Clarion DemocratJune 6, 1929William Sansom, Editor- A jury found Earl Winkler not guilty of charges including felonious assault and shooting with intent to kill. The jury evidently believed the charges not proven so they punished both parties by directing that each pay a part of the costs.

    BROOKVILLE -- On Saturday June 14 a Civil War veteran will be remembered for his service but his longevity. William H. Gray of Brookville served in Company I of the 105th Pennsylvania “Wildcat” Regiment. He died on Dec. 31, 1939, the last veteran of  that war in Jefferson County. He was 98 years old. Both Gray’s military service and his long life will be honored by the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic and the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War at the 2 p.m. service.

    CLARION TWP. -- Spring was literally busting out all over on Saturday, May 17  but especially in the newly revamped greenhouse on the campus of Clarion-Limestone High School. C-L’s inaugural Ag Day was held on the inaugural Garden Club Day May 17. The Wildflower Garden Club members plant and maintain the gardens at the Sawmill Center for the Arts and other venues in the area.
